Jobs, economy and benefits

The current tenants of the building will be relocating to a smaller premises locally. There will be no loss of jobs and the business will stay within the Hampshire economy.

The proposals will deliver a number of significant benefits to the local community, including:

  • Local economic boost – users of the facility will generate significant spend directly into the local economy.

  • Increased number of jobs – the proposals seek to significantly increase the number of jobs on site, bringing the total to 600.

  • Skills and Employment Plan – this will maximise opportunities for associated skills and employment in the local area.

  • Long-term job creation – the development will generate employment opportunities through the provision of new medical and healthcare services and associated accommodation. This will include medical practitioners, specialists and researchers, as well as therapists, hospitality and facilities staff.

  • Short-term job creation – the proposals will generate a wide variety of employment opportunities through the construction phase.

We are also exploring other local benefits the proposals could deliver.
